Lorenzen Wright Memorial

Yesterday was the public memorial service held for NBA player, Lorenzen Wright in Memphis, TN.  In the picture above his youngest daughter, Sophia touches the casket that holds her father.  Her 5 older siblings (Lorenzen, Jr., Shamar, Lamar, Lawson, and Loren) each wore a hat representing a team that their father once played for. 

    

The service itself was extremely emotional.. but this picture here just does something to me ;(

All of Memphis was in mourning yesterday.  The service was simply beautiful and I'm glad they offered his hometown a chance to be included in his home going.  During the service, several political figures spoke about Lorenzen.  Although I know that it's common practice to speak only good things about the deceased at their funeral, I've only heard great things about him when I speak to people privately.  He seemed to have been a great guy and an even better father.  That's the saddest thing about this whole situation, these babies lost their father, a good father at that.  I'm confident that the person(s) responsible for taking this man from his family and friends will be caught and held accountable for their actions.  Personally, I think the police know a lot more than they are telling us.  Since Lorenzen has finally been laid to rest, things are about to really get critical.  I'll keep you posted on anything new in the investigation as it becomes available.

Lorenzen Wright Memorial Live Stream

The investigation into Lorenzen Wright hasn't really given family members, friends, or fans the answer they've been looking for since last Wednesday. Everybody wants to know what happened to Lorenzen!! Although we haven't gotten an answer yet, I'm almost positive we'll know something soon. Today is the public memorial for the slain father, son, friend, brother and NBA player. I'm sure it will be a HUGE turn out, in fact I know it will.  They even had tickets for certain individuals attending the service, probably to keep the groupies away.

Really fast, I'll try to catch you all up a little on the investigation thus far.

- The ex-wife's story about him leaving her home at 2 a.m. is conflicting with the 12 a.m. 911 call placed from Wright's cell phone
- Sherra Wright's (the ex-wife) neighbors reported that they saw a fire from her back yard the night that Lorenzen went missing
- Sherra's divorce attorney is no longer speaking on her behalf and has advised her to seek a defense attorney

As I said before, I won't put my two cents out about what I think happened because this is an extremely sensitive subject. I will say this tho.... Last week I went to the crime scene with my sister and a friend to place flowers where they found his body. It was such an eerie feeling walking the path that he walked before he left this life. I kept shaking and wondering the whole time how he got ALLLLLLLLLL the way back where they found his body. Was he running, did he go willingly, was he tricked some kind of way? I don't know and probably never will. One thing I can say is that whoever did that is evil and they will be held accountable rather it's in THIS life or the next. R.I.P. Lorenzen Wright

After ten days of searching for Memphis great, Lorenzen Wright, the Memphis Police Department announced yesterday that they found his body in a wooded area of Southeast Memphis. For those that don't know who Lorenzen Wright was, let me fill you in. I consider a man that was as loyal to his city as he was, a Memphis LEGEND!! Lorenzen played basketball for Memphis during high school, college and even came back to play while in the NBA. How many players can we say that about? Wright was drafted into the NBA playing for the LA Clippers in 1996 during his sophomore year at Memphis State University (UOM). During his career he played for LA, Atlanta, Sacramento, Cleveland and of course the Memphis Grizzlies. Check the video below of the 1996 NBA draft, Lorenzen was the first round 7th pick.



Lorenzen was known around Memphis for his untiring efforts in the community, especially when it came to our youth. In addition to spending a great deal of time with his 6 children (ages 4-15), Lorenzen was known to offer his expertise at basketball camps throughout the city. I've seen Lorenzen several times in passing but never knew him personally. However, most times I saw him he was either smiling or just standing back chill. I found an interview on YouTube that shows a little of his character.  The guy interviewing him states that he was "one of the coolest personalities in the NBA and a real people person." He seemed like a nice guy, with a beautiful smile and personality. It gave me an eerie feeling when he said "dogs are loyal to you, you don't know about people..but you know your dogs are gonna be loyal." Check MORE DISH to see a tribute video and more on the investigation.



For the last few days Memphians  have been hopeful that he would be brought home safely, yesterday that hope was shattered. Lorenzen's body was found yesterday evening with over a dozen gun shot wounds. The location they found him was not unfamiliar to him, he traveled this road often when visiting his mother. Personally, I'm sick of all the speculation surrounding this case so I won't mention any of the things that I've heard. The extreme disregard for human life these days is ridiculous!! What kind of monster would kill a man like that and leave him there for days? How do you even sleep after doing something so horrible? I ask that you all keep the Wright family and friends in your prayers, especially his 6 children.  Like I said before, I've only seen him in passing and I actually dreamed about him last night so I can only imagine what his loved ones are going through. Wright's fraternity, Kappa Alpa Psi previously started a search fund to help with locating him. Sources tell me that they are now thinking of using that money as reward for any information leading to an arrest in the case.
