Aretha Franklin Speaks On Whitney Houston's Passing
Whitney's "Aunt Ree", Aretha Franklin spoke to TODAY about Whitney's death. Take a look at the interview below.
Since Whitney's death, I've watched several of her interviews and performances. It really hurt me to look at some of the recent videos, and it's no secret that "the voice" wasn't what it used to be. While speaking to TODAY, Aretha stated that she knew it hurt Whitney that she couldn't sing what (how) she wanted to and was used to. I know it had to have hurt her, because like I said... it hurt my feelings just watching it. There have been people making horrible comments about this legendary woman and it honestly ticks me off. One of the last songs she was heard singing was "Yes Jesus Loves Me", and it was obvious that she loved him too. So, who are we to judge? I've seen several posts about all the greats being in heaven ready to greet Whitney at the gate. If that's the case, I know they are all up there JAMMING.. and Whitney not only has "the voice" back, but she's hitting notes she didn't even know she could. More Dish!

Fantasia Skips Out On The Grammy's Over Aretha Franklin Tribute
Wow... I didn't know that my girl Fanny won a Grammy for "Best Female Vocal Performance" for Bittersweet, CONGRATS. However, I did notice that Fantasia wasn't at the show but I didn't think much of it. I've heard lots of people question the Grammy winners in the past and after being nominated 11 times with no win, I can understand Tasia wanting to sit it out. Well, her choice to skip out had nothing to do with the lack of wins. It had everything to do with them excluding Fantasia from the Aretha Franklin tribute.
Fantasia called in to 106 & Park and told them how she felt about the exclusion.
I’m going to be very honest with you. You know I wasn't at the Grammys last night, I’m kind of going through my own little thing…last night they were honoring someone who is my idol, Aretha Franklin, and there is no way I could have sat there and not got the happy feet and wanting to jump on the mic because she is my favorite so I felt like, you know, at the end of the day I should have been on that stage so, I kind of did my own little thing last night.
I watched Cee-lo’s performance, I love Cee lo, love Gaga, watched Gaga, and I love Rihannas performance, but I kind of cooked and did my own thing last night and was in my own world and was hoping that I won. I have this feeling, like every year I go, I feel like they always look over some of the good singers that are still around and I’m not trying to be funny but that's just the way I felt, so I didn't go into it like I usually do, I wasn’t there, so you know I caught some performances, Cee Lo was one of my favorites I love Love love .
On how she reacted to finally winning a GRAMMY!
Actually I scared my daughter because I just bust out and started crying, and she thought something was wrong with me. You know it’s been a long time coming T, you know at the end of the day its been a long time coming for me and I have been through a lot of things so when Brian called me (my manager accepted the award for me), I just bust out started crying because I felt like eh man, I wasn’t gonna stop until I got one and I’m still not going to stop and you know this has just given me motivation to do my own thing so I just started crying and just thanking God that finally, eleven times nominated, finally I got one.
Well... I surely wish she had been there to accept her award. She had a really rough year and I would have loved to see her reaction to winning an award she's been after for a while. Congrats again.
