Tia Mowry- Hardrict NOT Returning To "The Game" Next Season... Is Pooch Hall Out Too?

Well this news is extremely shocking and I'm not sure how well it's gonna go over!! Yesterday media outlets were reporting that the main characters of BET's The Game, Pooh Hall (Derwin Davis) and Tia Mowry-Hardrict (Melanie Barnett-Davis) would NOT be returning for next season.  When I saw it, I immediately dismissed it because I figured there is NO way that they would do away with the biggest story line of the show.  Well, sike my mind cuz shortly after the news hit the Internet, Tia Mowry tweeted confirmation of her departure.

Now that she has confirmed she's leaving, I'm now considering the info that Pooch could be leaving as well.  Supposedly, it was due to salary conflicts.  Whatever the reason may have been, I think it was a BAD MOVE for the show.  I'm not sure it can survive without those two.  Ooooh, unless they keep Pooch (Derwin) and try to work something into the storyline with Jahnae rekindling their relationship.  Nahhh, it still wouldn't be the same without 'Girl Melanie.'

The Game Season 5 Premiere Recap (And Video In Case You Missed It)

Unless you're just NOT a fan of the hit show The Game, just got out of jail or simply don't know anyone with cable, you've probably already seen the season 5 premiere.  If you haven't, you can check out the full one hour episode (and my recap) under MORE DISH. 

Let me first say that I absolutely LOVE the show and have since the very first season. Therefore, I might sound a bit biased in my review.  ANYWHO, here we go!!

The show was amazing, I loved every minute of it!! Wait, let me take that back... it did irk my soul to see Melanie walking across that football field in the intro.  I don't understand why they think it's okay to use that SAME freaking intro, I need something new and I need it ASAP!! I am soooooooooooooooooo glad they brought more comedy this season and while I don't need a cue to laugh, the laugh tracks were definitely missed last season.  I'm glad they brought it back!! Funny how simple things can be so major. I don't really feel a need to go allllllll into the details of the show (since it's viewable above), but I do wanna speak on a few things.

Number one, let's discuss Mel and Derwin...

Everyone has been sitting on edge trying to figure out this whole abortion thing!! I was shocked as hell last season when they threw that out there and left us confused for months.  So, after they determined she had the abortion...why was Derwin so upset with her? Okay, I could understand if it had been HIS child that she aborted without telling him, but he got over that faster than he did when he found out it was Trey's baby. Dude started throwing extremely low blows. That "now you can't have our baby" comment could have caused that scene to go a whole different direction (like them throwing blows). Then he didn't even come home that night.  She then had to wake up ALONE and start decorating for HIS child's birthday party by herself. Whew honey, that was a lot. When they discussed rather or not he would have accepted her back after having someones child, I could have sent the writers an Edible Arrangement or something. I love that they put it out there how we as women can accept so much and if/when the tables are turned, men aren't willing to take anything close to what we deal with. Mel was right, he probably wouldn't have taken her back after having Trey's baby.  Yet, she has to deal with Janae and picking up lil DJ from the Arby's parking lot.  Let's not even mention that she has yet to have a proper wedding because Derwin had to leave when DJ was being born.  Now, I'm not saying that Melanie shouldn't accept DJ, she knew what she was getting into and honestly... that whole situation was jacked up from jump.  All I'm saying is that the situation is difficult and I can totally understand the pain she must feel seeing her husband with a child (that he had years into their relationship), and she is having trouble having a child herself. Oh well, glad they knocked out the whole abortion issue by the close of the show.  Speaking of knocked out, the way he hit Trey was a bit wrong, but oh so sexy LOL. When he hit him, I yelled "why'd he do that?" My friend said "sh*t, he didn't bring a baby."  I thought that was pure comedy.. so because he didn't bring a baby, he needed to be knocked out? LOL!! Anywho, let's talk about Jason and Chardonnay.

That story line was a bit stretched but hey, it's a sitcom! Jason is still hilarious and gives me a good laugh almost every time he comes on the screen.  I'm curious to see how he'll handle this whole discovery of internal rational issues. This marriage thing could be good or bad for the story line.  I'm thinking that Jason and Chardonnay's relationship will blossom into something that I might like.  I still miss Kelly (Britney Daniel) as Mrs. Pitts, but hey... it just makes the show more real. Just cuz we like certain people together doesn't mean it's gonna work. Can't wait to see what's gonna happen with these two.  SIDE NOTE: Brandy did a very good job in her role as Chardonnay, I was proud of her.

The Macks, gotta love em!! I am SOOOOOOOO happy they didn't make Malik such an a-hole this season. The fact that Tasha is really stuck between a rock and a hard place (Malik and Derwin) is gonna be an interesting plot for the season. We all know that the "family first" motto can sometimes have you FACE FIRST in the dirt. Plus, it just shows us AGAIN how women are always the ones expected to give in or accept things.  Didn't Malik fire Tasha first? Yet, you see how hard it is for her to leave him even after all of that. I hope Tasha takes TeTe's advise and goes back to Derwin. Uhhh, was I the only one that saw something going on between Tasha and TeTe?  He seemed to be a little more concerned for and into her than normal.  Malik and Jenna, LOVE IT!! Malik finally really cares about someone other than himself. I hope she doesn't bring him back into any BS and I hope Malik doesn't screw Tasha over.


Okay, I think that's about it.  Oh, I can't leave without mentioning the fact that Tika Sumpter's  (Jenna) body is A-MA-ZINGGGGGGG!! OMG and the skin!! Besides that, I don't have much more to say.  Again, I loved the show and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.  So, what did you think?

"The Game" Season 5 Premiere On BET

I am way too freaking excited about the season 5 premiere of The Game tonight.  I've missed Med School, Tasha Mack, Derwin, Malik and Jason like crazy since the finale last year.  Well, the wait is over. The show will return to BET tonight with a one our premiere and I'll be glued to the TV for each and every second of it.  Check out this cute clip of Tia Mowry-Hardrict and Wendy Raquel Robinson switching roles on 106 & Park.

Sneak Peek Of "The Game" Season 5

Well, that didn't offer much to go on.  I'm anxious to see the show, but not because of this clip.  I'm really ready to see what changes they've made.  Looks like Kelly is gone for good this time around.  The new season airs in January 2012, I'll DEF be watching.  Will you?

What Did YOU Think Of "The Game"?-- My Review

In the words of Ms. Tasha Mack "Game On B*tches".... I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the show!!!! The cast came back and brought their A game!  Check MORE DISH to see my review of the show.  If you haven't seen it yet, you might wanna wait to read.  Of course they'll be spoilers.



First off, I love how they did the two year time lapse. It made up for the time that they've been gone and allowed for all the characters to grow. Yea it was a bit cheesy to hear a character run down the accomplishments of another character, but that is what gave us all the info we needed to pick up where we left off.  The writers filled us all the way in on the changes that took place within those 2 years.

The biggest change is that Derwin went from "Ding Dong" to "That N***a".  In prior seasons, that was Malik.  Now, Malik is the underdog and also stepped up as the biggest A-Hole of the show.  His character was NEVER humble so I'm not shocked that it went down hill.  Looks like getting rid of Tasha wasn't such a great decision.  In this case, he should have listened to the old saying "Mama knows best."

Kelly and Jason... this story line is slick bothering me.  I guess I can understand how hurt and angry she is after the divorce (and all she went through in her marriage) but her new attitude is a bit TOO angry for me.  She is also SUPER damn messy from what I see thus far.  That ish she pulled when Melanie called about the baby was MAD WRONG (and calls for a beat down).   I have to admit, I'm digging Kelly's new style.  All that makeup tho, its a no go.  Oh, another no go would HAVE to be the new Brittany.  I want the old Brit-Brat back pronto (please and thank you).  Jason is still Jason, and I love that.  He was never one to change during the other seasons and they kept at it this season.

My girl, Tasha Mack... I STILL love her.  However, I'm super hot about that black and mild that they just threw all in the mix.  I mean really, what was the purpose of that?  Was that to "ghetto-fy" her a little more?  As if going in her trunk and calling on Pookie wasn't enough.  Besides that, I wanna know what happened to Rick Fox.  If they answer that, we'll probably all have a better understanding of how Dontae (Terrence J.) came into the picture.  What did you guys think about Terrence J. as a new character?  Personally, I think I'm gonna like him.  It was most def strange to see him in that role, but he did a great job.  Once I get beyond seeing Terrence J. of 106 and seeing Dontae, we'll be alright.  I'm sure some of y'all will feel the same.  My older sister doesn't watch 106 and didn't know who he was, so she automatically liked him in the role.  After watching the show a second time, it wasn't so strange to me.  It's most def gonna take some getting used to tho.

Whewww honey, you know I had to save Derwin and Melanie for last.  This one here is one helluva story line. I love how they are such a hot couple and how they went from living comfortably, to balling the hell out.. and they did it all TOGETHER. While they have all of that, Melanie still has to deal with D.J. and Jenae.  At first I thought that the two (Jenae and Melanie) were all good, until I saw that look on Melanie's face when Derwin went to the car with Jenae.  Oh, and when Jenae pulled that bish move and went and copped the SAME bag as Melanie.  That was SUPER lame and shows that she just might want a little of what Melanie has.  Anywho...who was mad at Melanie for swabbing lil D.J.'s mouth?  Not I said the cat, LMBO.  I'm sorry but hey, as his WIFE, I think she had the right to know.  Yes, she should have suggested that when he was fresh out the poon, but whatever.  Now, the next question is what was she supposed to do when she found out the he was supposedly not his child?  What the writers wrote in was right on the money cuz that was SO a Girl Melanie move.  But what she SHOULD have done (after redoing the test at least 5 times) was talk her husband into them finding out the truth TOGETHER!! The writers did their jobs cuz they kept the viewers on pins and needles the entire show. Everybody was SO glad that the baby wasn't Derwin's.  While lots of people on Twitter, FB and at the watch party I attended were all ready to throw Jenae to the wolves, I wasn't buying it LOL.  We took a vote at the house to see who all believed that the baby wasn't his and 8 out of 10 thought he wasn't.  My sister and I knew something wasn't right tho.  Jenae has never been there for Derwin's money and I just didn't see her as being that grimmy.  We have to keep in mind that Jenae wasn't some groupie or jumpoff, they were in a relationship.  She actually LIVED with this man.  Pooch Hall killed that kitchen scene, he had all of America about to cry with him, LOL.  If this were REAL life and what was supposed to happen really happened... The next show would start out with Melanie saying "Baby I f***ed up", but I don't think that's gonna happen.  I hope it does, but im not sure if it will. 


One thing that made the show stand out to me is that the story lines were not unbelievable.  Everything that happened (the quick athlete come up, the quick drop in career status, baby mama drama, lost friendships, etc.) all happen in the world we live in.  As we watched the show I was LMAO at all the "oohs and aahs" coming from around the room.  Although I knew it was a hit, it was confirmed when EVERYONE in the house said "I can't wait for next week" or "I can't wait to see whats gonna happen."  When I finally logged on to Twitter, there it was again.  Of course there were the ones that hated the show but that's a given. I hope they didn't give us a great start then give us bull throughout the rest of the season.  I so don't think that's the case, but the show gets two thumbs up from Diva Dish Talk and I'll be watching every week to see.

Now... anybody watch Lets Stay Together?  I missed it, I was too busy watching The Game again, LOL.

It's GAME Night With BET...

Tonight is the return of one of my most FAVORITE sitcoms EVER, The Game.  If you're not a fan, I don't know what to say about you LOL.  I'm so excited about the return and even more glad that BET decided to pick it up.  I was one of the MANY people to sign the petition for CW to bring them back.  While CW might not have cared, BET saw we meant business and brought them back.  I'm super excited and I'm sure they'll be better than ever.  Check out some pics from the Cast Meet and Greet in New York.

Is The Game Returning With New Episodes?

Twitter went crazy the other day when Pooch Hall tweeted his old cast mates Tia Mowry and Hosea Chanchez bascially asked them if they heard they good news. He then stated 'Thasssswasuup", this of course got EVERYBODY hype. Everyone I know loves "The Game", men as well as women. According to Black Voices, Bet is negotiating new contracts for the actors of the show that ended last June. While the show will switch networks if they return (from The CW to BET) the switch will not hurt the actors pockets, they'll be paid the same thing they made with CW.

Remember back in November when I told you all about a change in the cast? I heard from a very reliable source that Pooch Hall (Derwin Davis) would not be returning to the show. Yea, I'm wondering the same thing. How in the hell is that going to work? IDK, but I guess well see what happens. Not only is Pooch's return up in the air, Coby Bell (Jason Pitts) might not return either. He has now signed on as a new cast member on "Burn Notice" (I'll be watching him there too). I'm really irritated that they waited until two of the main characters found other gigs before they decided the show was worthy of returning. I'll keep you posted on whats going on.
