Terry McMillian Thinks Will & Jada Are Exploiting Their Children

Famed author Terry McMillian took to her Twitter page to voice her opinion of "The 2nd Family".

Really?  While I have my own issues with children being put in the spot light, I think this was so uncalled for.  I mean what made her just up and tweet this?  Maybe she saw a video or something, IDK.  Whatever the reason, I think it's silly.  I see how adult celebrities are treated by the public so I have my concerns about how that same treatment would affect a young child. Also, I think children should be given the opportunity to attend real schools if at all possible.  HOWEVER, in the case of the Smith children...they've lived this since they were born.  If they're already a part of the celebrity world, there is no reason to try and shield them from it if they want to pursue their own careers. Other than the school thing I have no issues with child stars.  They should be able to pursue their dreams, whatever they may be.  If they can sing, dance, walk a balance beam or whatever, LET THEM!!

Oh and... I don't see the arrogance in their demeanor that she spoke of.  They seem like children that come from money and are trying to advance in their own careers.  Ms. McMillian, please keep these kinds of comments to yourself and get to writing another book.  I need another good read, ASAP.  Please and thank you!

A lot of A-list movie stars shielded their children from the Hollywood-world until they were old enough to decide. Look at those who didn’t. Look at Lindsay. Phoenix. To name but a few. They miss out on childhood. It’s more important than fame.

These kids don’t already know what they “love”. Total bullshit. They’re not prodigies. They think Hollywood is real.

Why don’t they do a remake of The Little Rascals and call it a day? Or, come up with an original film with some ethnic pride. Come on.

Okay. I’ve said enough about the Smith children. I’m not debating about them. It’s just my opinion. People can justify anything, though.

In 4th grade my son came home complaining that the kids in his school said I was famous and rich. I told him that was not true. That some of my books were popular but not everybody liked them. That we could afford a vacation. “Oh” he said, and went back & repeated it. I wanted him to think of me as his mother. He didn’t read any of my novels until he was 15. He only read 26 pages. Was bored.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everybody. I raised my son. I’m not wasting another minute worrying about how Will & Jada are raising their kids.

P.S. I loved the Karate Kid.

Well okay then, LOL.

After all of that was said and done, Terry came back to tweet her apology!!

I apologize for using the word pimp and exploit in referring to the Smith children. It was insensitive of me and wrong. Twitter is not the best forum to express some things. I didn’t know folks would take my opinion so personally. It is amazing, though, how fast an unflattering comment gets retweeted versus one that’s flattering. I’m done with this issue. My opinion isn’t going to change anything.

There are a lot more important things going on in the world right now. My Mama used to say: “They’ll talk about you if you do. And talk about you if you don’t. Let ‘em talk.” Some folks look for a reason to criticize you. They’re getting off on it and are saying much worse things than I did. I’ve got work to do. I hope everybody who has something important to do today besides worry about the Smith children, does it.

And for those of you who were so offended by what I said or thought I was being disrespectful, unfollow me.

Well Diva, I agree that her comment wasn't called for publically but she is entitled to her opinion. I have always admired Will and Jada along with the way they raise their kids - HOWEVER, I do have a problem with children not being properly educated and given a social atmosphere to be able to socialize with children their age. They will have plenty of time for entertainment. I have always believed that child stars get burned out to quick and that is why most of them get into trouble when they become adolescents - that is just my thought. Let a child be a child and enjoy life like children are supposed to. They have their entire life to be famous....they are destined to be famous, their parents are! For the meantime, if they want to do a movie here and there or a TV appearance, that is great but don't burn them out before they even reach adulthood. Great topic though...

Does Terry have any damn children? Idk but she needs to sit her ole lonely, miserable ass down someplace. Those kids will be set for life. I wish I coulda had a damn job when I was 10 that would allow me to travel the world and still be kicking it. Rock on Smith kids.

Wait a minute she has the nerve to whine about people needing something more 'important' to worry about and criticizing others when SHE did just that?! Sounds like she can dish it out but NOT take it herself and if she didn't want any comments then don't go on a PUBLIC forum HAG!! Terry is the one who sounds arrogant beyond belief and a hypcorite and a whiny, bitter fool. Worry about your OWN messed up family since that is what should be 'important'.
