Settlement Reached In Sean Bell Case

The city of New York has FINALLY decided to settle and pay the family and friends of Sean Bell more than $7 million to settle a 2007 lawsuit.  I'm sure we all remember the brutal murder of 23 year old Bell back in 2006, he was killed by NYC police on the day he was set to be married after leaving his bachelor party.  The lawsuit filed back 2007 by family and friends accused the police of wrongful death, negligence, assault and civil rights violation.  Sean Bell had two beautiful daughters with his fiance', Nicole Paultre-Bell, the children will receive $3.25 million from the lawsuit.  The night of the murder, 2 of Bell's friends were out celebrating with him and both were injured in the incident. Joseph Guzman will receive $3 million and Trent Benefield will receive $900,000 for their injuries.

While I am extremely happy that NYC was forced to pay for what they did, that money will NEVER replace this son, father, friend, and husband. I'm so sick of those that are supposed to uphold the law using their authority to do whatever the hell they want.  I will never understand how all three of the officers involved were acquitted on all charges!!! How do you explain shooting 50 shots into an unarmed man's vehicle?
